Join graphic novelist Polyp in an illustrated talk of his new, vivid graphic novel 'PAINE' about the amazing life of Thomas Paine.

Polyp, author of a new, vivid graphic novel about the astonishing life and progressive ideas of this slandered and almost forgotten world shaker, an enlightenment hero whose writings challenged and transformed our world. Discover his surprising Manchester links, and his prescient thoughts about the ownership of the land, the nature of power, wealth and poverty, grass roots democracy, and his early suggestions for a model welfare state. Born to a humble working-class family in Norfolk, Paine emigrated to America and sparked the revolution there. In France he fell foul of Robespierre's brutal regime, nearly going to the guillotine, and throughout his life faced and defied an eerily familiar barrage of social and media vilification. Plus... he was a pirate, corset-maker and bridge-builder!

The event is free of charge but as a small charity we welcome your donations as your help will enable us to continue our work. Suggested donations from £3.00 - £10.00. All donations gratefully received.
