Painting Panel Making- Practical workshop

Assembling and preparing your painting surfaces gives you full control and liberty over the size and texture of your painting surface, allowing you to create the perfect support for your paintings.

In this class you will learn all you need to know to assemble different wood and paper supports and how to prime them for different techniques.

The class will cover:

- What tools you will use and how do they work

- How to choose the materials to assemble a painting panel

- How to choose the right material for the surface

- How to measure, cut and mount the materials to the support

- How to identify and remedy faults in the surface

- How to choose and make your primer

- How to size and prime your surface for any technique you will be using

All the materials are provided.

The panels provided are 30x40cm

You can bring your own materials if you wish to work on different dimensions (nothing over 50x60cm)

The finished surfaces will be yours to keep, along with your primer of choice.

This workshop is accessible to any level of experience and knowledge of the topic.

The workshop will include explanations and demonstrations from the teacher, which you’ll then put into practice.

Any question is encouraged and any knowledge and tips you want to share are welcomed.

It is recommended to bring:

- Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty

- Pen and notepad to write the recipes and instructions for future reference.

- A large bag or backpack to take away your finished painting surfaces
