Painting with Light
Painting with Light is a workshop presented by UCL Centre for Digital Humanities (UCLDH) as part of the 2017 E17 Art Trail, with assistance from UCL colleagues and the parish team at St Michaels church.
St Michaels Church is an impressive 19th century building close to the centre of Walthamstow. In this workshop we will produce a series of images floating in space using an experimental device known as a PixelStick, while discussing the history of the church and parish.
The PixelStick produces images that are visible yet indecipherable to the naked eye, but are revealed when viewed through long-exposure photographs. Long-exposure images can be captured using a variety of cameras and phone apps; the images we produce will be previewed on the night, and distributed via Art Trail and other social media networks.
The Pixelstick only works in the dark, hence the late time of this workshop.
What do Pixelstick images look like? You can see details of a previous event run by members of the team.
Tickets are free but limited in number.
