British Association of Steelbands (BAS). BAS is a national not for profit organisationresponsible for the promotion, advancement and education of the steel drum (pan) instrument in the United Kingdom.

<P><SPAN>Pan Explosion is a musical competition exclusively for steelbands. It is an innovative showcase for arrangers to have their compositions performed by ensembles of up to six musicians. </SPAN>This unique event encourages young musicians to compose and arrange new music written specifically for the steel pan that is judged by an expert panel. The whole process takes a significant amount of planning and hard work by those participating and is one of the few events on the calender that nurtures talent.</P>
