IS IT POSSIBLE TO REMEMBER AN APPARENTLY UNKNOWN HISTORY?
PANEL DISCUSSION: MAGDA STAWARSKA-BEAVAN, REBECCA CHESNEY, LUBAINA HIMID
SAT 25 MAY, 11.30, Newlyn Art Gallery
Curated by Lubaina Himid, winner of the 2017 Turner Prize, Invisible Narratives explores the work of three artists, Magda Stawarska-Beavan, Rebecca Chesney and Lubaina Himid, who consider the poetic investigation of place, space and time, through painting, sound installation and place-based research.
Drawing on the connections between their work in the exhibition the three artists will investigate further questions of place and memory, ‘trying to understand how you know a place well, but that you don’t necessarily know how this can be.’.
