Event description
Ever wondered what it might be like to have an invisible hand? Three hands? Or a hand that’s made of clay?

About this event

The ‘Rubber Hand Illusion’ is used widely in experimental psychology to study issues around embodiment and body ownership. In this experiment, participants build their own hand and other non-hand unfeasible objects in place of a replica rubber hand. Using clay, it is possible to distort and manipulate the clay while feeling ownership over it. The clay can be squashed, extended textured, spaces and gaps added.

para-lab: The workshop is run by artists and scientists from Manchester-based collective para-lab. An exhibition of work from their ongoing collaborations is at Rogue Studios, 23-26 September. More details on their website http://para-lab.org
