Patchwork and ProtestTextiles have long played a role in movements for social change - from hand-stitched banners and protest flags to quilts that carry messages of solidarity and resistance. In this workshop at Glamorgan Archives, participants will explore archival materials connected to protest and activism in Glamorgan, discovering how communities have used creativity to make their voices heard.Inspired by these histories, participants will learn simple patchwork and stitching techniques to create their own textile pieces that reflect themes of protest, identity and collective action. No previous sewing experience is needed - the session is open to anyone curious about local history and interested in learning new creative skills. Through conversation, making and shared stories, we will consider how textiles can become powerful tools for expression, memory and change.
