Patchwork and Protest
Participants will explore archival materials connected to protest and activism in Glamorgan. Patchwork and embroidery workshop.
Patchwork and Protest
Textiles have long played a role in movements for social change - from hand-stitched banners and protest flags to quilts that carry messages of solidarity and resistance. In this workshop at Glamorgan Archives, participants will explore archival materials connected to protest and activism in Glamorgan, discovering how communities have used creativity to make their voices heard.
Inspired by these histories, participants will learn simple patchwork and stitching techniques to create their own textile pieces that reflect themes of protest, identity and collective action. No previous sewing experience is needed - the session is open to anyone curious about local history and interested in learning new creative skills. Through conversation, making and shared stories, we will consider how textiles can become powerful tools for expression, memory and change.
Hosted by Ophelia Dos Santos at the Glamorgan Archives.

Pwytho a Phrotest
Mae tecstilau eisoes wedi chwarae rhan mewn ymgyrchoedd dros newid cymdeithasol - o faneri a bwythwyd ar law i gwiltiau sy’n cyfleu negeseuon o undod a gwrthsafiad. Yn y gweithdy yma yn Archifau Morgannwg, bydd cyfranogwyr yn ymchwilio i ddeunyddiau archifol sydd â chyswllt a phrotest a gweithrediad ym Morgannwg, gan ddarganfod sut mae cymunedau wedi defnyddio creadigrwydd i leisio barn.
Wedi eu hysbrydoli gan yr hanesion yma, bydd cyfranogwyr yn dysgu technegau clytwaith a phwytho syml i greu eu tecstilau eu hun sy’n adlewyrchu’r themâu o brotest, hunaniaeth a chydweithrediad. Nid oes angen unrhyw brofiad o wnïo - mae’r sesiwn ar agor i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn hanes lleol ac yn frwdfrydig i ddysgu sgiliau creadigol newydd. Trwy sgwrsio, creu a rhannu straeon, byddwn yn ystyried sut all tecstilau fod yn ddull pwerus ar gyfer mynegiad, cofio a newid.
