Pattern Cutting Workshop

After completing this, you will use the block as a base to explore how it can be utilised to bring a design to life. You will understand how to adapt patterns for proper fit and shape.

For advanced learners, you can try a more advanced bodice, build on your skills, and create different collars and sleeves.

What will we cover?

Body measuring, sizing and ease, how to read patterns, the step-by-step process of block making.

What will I achieve?

By the end of this course, you should be able to...

• Demonstrate understanding of how to take body measurements correctly

• Create a classic bodice block pattern

• Understand basic pattern cutting symbols

• Be competent in using tools and equipment

• Learn how to transfer a design into a pattern from the block

• Understand how to adapt the block to create different styles

• Cut and sew a design in toile (calico) if time permits.

Experienced learners can:
