Peer Sessions no 64
Event Information
Description
Studio Voltaire Associates presents an evening with Peer Sessions - a London-based crit group and support network for postgraduate artists, curators, writers and academics founded in 2009 by artist associates Kate Pickering and Charlotte Warne Thomas.
Session no 64, includes a performance for discussion by School of the Event Horizon (Steven Levon Ounanian, Kate Pickering and Emily Rosamond), and a presentation of work by artist Blue Curry (SV Open 2015).
Peer Sessions welcomes artists and those involved in the production of contemporary art to present, openly discuss and explore artworks. Each Peer Session follows the ‘silent crit’ model in which the artist presenting work can initially provide relevant practical details, for example, the title, material and display context of the work, but then remains silent for the rest of the discussion. Comments are directed at the work (rather than the artist).
The discussion and session is moderated using a format based on MOMA’s Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). Artworks discussed can be new work, older or work in progress.
Peer Sessions are open to all- however space is limited to support a generative open discussion and participation. RSVP essential. Food and Drink is communally supplied. Please bring a bottle.
