Session One: Crafting Atmosphere and Setting in Spooky Narratives

This session explores how atmosphere and setting contribute to the eerie and suspenseful tone of horror, crime, and paranormal genres. Participants will examine how these elements shape the reader’s experience and support the writer’s voice.

Key Activities:

• Introduction to atmosphere and setting in spooky storytelling.
• Guided writing tasks to amplify mood and tone.
• Exercises to develop and refine the writer’s unique voice within genre conventions.

Outcome: Participants will leave with a stronger grasp of how to build immersive, unsettling environments and how to align these with their narrative style.
