Performance Poetry Masterclass with Susan Evans

Performance Poetry Masterclass with Susan Evans

St James TrustSeaford, England
Saturday, Mar 21 from 12 pm to 4 pm GMT
Overview

Acclaimed Performance Poet, Susan Evans makes a welcome return to LitFest, delivering her hugely popular half-day Performance  Masterclass.

What will the performance poetry masterclass cover?

Through practical workshopping, we shall explore what performance poetry is, and performance techniques: how to transform a static reading into a dynamic performance!

We shall explore performance styles — finding and refining individual style and delivery; under the guidance of a seasoned pro.
Activities shall include : grounding exercises, improvisation warm-up games, performance techniques, styles, movement and voice work. [With adaptations where appropriate].
This practical masterclass shall culminate in participants performing a 3 minute poem [of choice] to the class, with focussed, critical class feedback on delivery for further practise.

There shall be negotiated comfort breaks during the workshop.

What do I need to bring?

Bring 2 contrasting poems of up to 3 minutes or up to 14 lines, to play with in performance; [your own poems or borrowed].

Bring lunch/snacks/soft drinks to consume on the go; as you need.[Breaktime tea/coffee & biscuits shall be provided by us].

Bring an open mind and a playful spirit!

AND, do bring yourself and some supporters to the FREE evening’s Open Mic at the Wellington Hotel, if you can!

A limited number of bursary tickets are available for this event on a discretionary basis - please contact the organisers (see www.seahavenpoets.co.uk)
