Phoenix Folk

Jesmond Library is a community library,  one of over 500 such libraries in the country. It is housed in a unique grade II listed building and is home to a wide range of books which is regularly updated. The library is run entirely by volunteers, and as well as a free library service it offers a wide variety of events and activities for all sections of the community.Our volunteers run a varied range of sessions including conversation groups in French, German, Italian and Spanish; English language classes; a book group; poetry sharing and playreading groups; Current Affairs discussions; Craft’n’Chat: you can browse ourEvents calendar here.

Strong Women: A celebration of North East women in poetry and music for International Women's Day with Harry Gallagher & Miggins Fiddle

Jesmond Library

An evening of poetry and folk music telling the stories of both famous and unknown women of the North East, past and present, and celebrating their contribution to our communities. This will be an warm, engaging and thought provoking evening delivered by Cullercoats poet Harry Gallagher and fiddle/guitar duo Miggins Fiddle. Tickets can also be purchased at the library on the day.
