Photo 57 is an Exeter based project that uses photography as a means of engagement and empowerment and is managed by Meridian Raw CIC and part funded by Recovery Devon, who are an independent community of people of good will who support Recovery and wellbeing; both as a personal vision and as an underpinning value base to promote radical change in mental health attitudes and provision.
The main aims of this Photo 57 is to provide the opportunity for communities to come together in a creative project and develop a portfolio of images on gratitude and a personal photography project on a subject of their choice. Furthermore, it is intended for this project to provide a platform for participants to reflect upon everyday experiences, interactions or objects for which they are grateful. We believe that this can help people to notice the positives in their lives and to foster and share their hopes for the future and we are aiming for this process to play an important role in supporting people to regain meaning, to learn new skills, develop relationships with others and to encourage social inclusion.
Throughout the course we would like you to have access to a digital camera, so please bring along your digital camera or digital phone so the facilitator is able to see what equipment you will be using in the project. If you do not have access to a digital camera then we maybe able to supply one, however, we only have a very limited number.
