Addressing Net Zero Challenges through Collaboration in Photonics

The UK’s new Innovation Strategy has identified photonics as one of the seven key transformative technology families vital to the UK’s future prosperity, defining the direction of UK RD &amp;I.Achieving Net zero is of the greatest challenges for the UK and Photonics will have a big role to play in developing innovative solutions to ensure that the CO2 we add to the atmosphere is no more than the amount that is taken away.<h2>Working together towards a Net Zero World</h2><a href="https://csconnected.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CSconnected</a>, <a href="https://ktn-uk.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">KTN</a>, <a href="https://photonicsuk.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Photonics Leadership Group</a>, <a href="https://businesswales.gov.wales/innovation/smart-innovation" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Welsh Government</a>, <a href="https://photonicsscotland.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Photonics Scotland</a> and <a href="https://technologyconnected.net/photonics-connected/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Photonics Connected</a> have teamed up to host an open innovation workshop to bring together the photonics community with organisations looking to address their carbon footprint.On 22nd September, leading organisations including BT, Fraunhofer UK Research, Celsa, Costain and the South Wales Industrial Cluster will be outlining some of the Net Zero challenges that industry is facing.We will discuss these challenges in breakout sessions to consider potential photonics-based solutions and project themes that can be taken forward.
