PHPNE: Onion Architecture - Long live the code!

PHP North East is a user group for any one in North East England interested in PHP. Our attendees range from students and graduates to seasoned developers and freelancers, all looking to learn more about PHP and related technologies.

For our November – our 60th User Group Meeting– we are pleased to announce Onion Architecture – Long Live the code! by <A HREF="https://twitter.com/cheeryfella" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ian Wood</A>. With pizzas provided by <A HREF="https://twitter.com/sharperecruit" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sharpe Recruitment</A>, venue provided by <A HREF="https://twitter.com/campusnorthuk" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Campus North</A> and additional sponsorship from <A HREF="http://www.opia-sp.com/en/home" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Opia</A>. 
The event will take place at Campus North, Carliol Square, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 6UF (<A HREF="https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Campus+North/@54.9728896,-1.6107689,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x487e70c8214ef835:0x728e1f222751ef97" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">map</A>).

We are faced with many choices when developing software. How can we ensure that the choices we make don't consign our code to an early grave?
With the number of frameworks available, and their recommendations in use, many projects are produced, deployed and subsequently stuck with technologies that were chosen in the embryonic stages. How can we get our projects and lives into a place where these decisions can be changed?
Designing our applications independently of frameworks, persistence storage technologies, etc. etc. while still 'standing on the giants' could help those projects live way beyond Kohana!
Ian is platform engineer at <A HREF="https://moltin.com" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Moltin</A> - the quicker way to build eCommerce applications. 
After the event, many of us will be going to the Warerooms next door, for some liquid refreshments.
