Phytology Balm Making Workshop

Phytology is an artist & community led project exploring the use, value, resilience and function of wildness within urban ecosystems.Launched at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve in 2014, Phytology is part physic garden; part cultural institute; part urban wilderness; and a platform for collaboration between artists, musicians, writers and a wide variety of community groups.

Our Phytology summer workshops start this July with a herbal body balm making workshop.
Gain hands on experience making your own healthy, inexpensive, and effective herbal body balm, using fresh herbs from the Phytology herbal meadow, and finish with a pot luck shared lunch. The workshop is taught by qualified medical herbalist and Phytology team who have knowledge and experience in plant identification and making herbal medicines. 
We will explore the properties of different carrier oils, learn the different techniques of infusing herbs into oils and then make a body balm to use on dry and sensitive prone skin. You will create a bespoke body balm to take away with you. This workshop will teach you how to do this easily and safely at home.
Please join us from 1-2 for a shared Phytology lunch - please bring along food to share.
