Pitching it Write! – An Evening with Paula Bowles

Join picture book makers Birgitta Sif and David Barrow for an (online) evening with award winning illustrator and author Paula Bowles. As well as introducing her practice as an illustrator, Paula will also be discussing the important and relevant theme of ‘Pitching it Write!’, writing and submitting picture book pitches, offering a wonderful insight into the process.

Paula Bowles is an award-winning illustrator based in Weston-super-Mare and has been working as an illustrator since graduating from Falmouth University in 2005. Paula is illustrator of There’s a Poonami in my House written by Chris & Rosie Ramsey, creators of the award-winning Sh*gged. Married. Annoyed podcast, as well as the illustrator of the Mazy the Movie Star picture book series written by Hollywood star Isla Fisher. She has been won, been shortlisted and nominated for numerous awards including Portsmouth Picture Book Award, The Nibbies, the Indie Book Awards and many more. Paula is also an official illustrator of the BBC 500 Words competition 2026.


Paula will kindly be answering any questions you may have, as well as inviting you to share an exciting interactive activity. So, as always, bring pencils, paper and as much creativity as you can muster!
