Plague spread in sixteenth-century Antwerp: policies and spatiality - Janna Coomans with Léa Hermenault (University of Amsterdam)Windows and sensory portals during outbreaks of plague - Claire Turner (University of Leeds)Quarantine, salubrious spaces and contagious objects in the eighteenth-century Mediterranean - Marina Inì (British School at Rome)This seminar will offer a range of perspectives on how experiences of, responses to, and attempts to prevent the spread of plague in pre-modern Europe and the Mediterranean were shaped by space and materiality.Three 12-minute papers will be followed by discussion.
