Land Insight's Planning System Hack
Join us for a weekend of problem solving using planning applications. Come along to meet people and find ways to use planning applications to solve important problems. Oh, and win big cash prizes!
Who is the event for?
This event is for problem solvers whether they work in the built environment professions, are keen to meet people with an interest in improving the planning system, or if they just want access to a brand new dataset with over 10 million records containing multiple uses across many sectors.
If you have ever thought that planning applications can help you or your work, this event is for you! If you ever wanted to have first mover advantage on a brand new dataset, this is for you! If you want to help tackle social and environmental problems, this event is definately for you!
What is the hack all about?
Planning applications have many uses by built environment professionals, but until now have been too expensive to easily access, aggregate, map and draw macro data from - until now.
For the first time ever, Land Insight has produced an API for planning applications so they can be accessed easily from a single source.
Challenges for the program:
- Environmental uses
- Social/ Civic Uses
- Best business case
- Sponsors challenges
The rest is down to you - how would you use them?
Can I come on my own?
Yes. We will facilitate introductions and team building.
Do I need to be able to code/ build software?
No. Hackathons are about problem solving, innovating and meeting people. Finding people who will be able to help, or you can work alongside to create potential applictions, is a large focus of the weekend. We will facilitate this interaction.
What are the costs involved in accessing the data?
There are no costs in accessing the data and producing applications that will be freely available as open data. You must adhere to the terms and conditions which do not let you produce the data in a format that can then be commercialised, unless the commercial licence is adhered to.
Can I produce commercial applications with the data?
Absolutely but commercial licensing and terms will apply.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
You can only bring the named people who signed up - unless you ask us nicely in advance.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
