About this event

The work 'Plastic Era as an Indicator of the Anthropocene' is an ongoing research based project exploring the relationship between humans, non-compostable rubbish, and the earth. This project looks into the use of plastics in our everyday lives. Additionally, this artistic project explores photography mixing experimental and traditional darkroom techniques by analysing extracted polymers through this practice.

After Litter Picking sessions in Worthing we will inmerse ourselfs on a journey of analysing plastic waste through Cyanotypes (Sun Printing). No previous experience needed!

Cyanotypes are one of the oldest photographic printing processes. To create their distinctive blue images this technique uses UV light or sun exposure with a combination of non-toxic chemicals and found objects.

We will be using this camera-less technique to analyse found plastics and their uses, densities, sizes and materials.

Everything you need is provided but you can bring your own fund plastics and materials such as printed packaging, fruit containers or even organic matter.

Please note that chemicals used are not toxic but may stain your clothers. Bring suitable clothers and/or apron.

This is a FREE event. However, if you can afford to do so, please consider DONATING. This will help us cover the costs of running events at our centre and also to be able to hold future events.

CREare a voluntary non-profit charity, and we are passionate about ensuring our climate centre continues to stay open for all of us who are striving for a better and more sustainable future.

Thank you.
