Museum Development East Midlands

This one day course is designed for those without a background in the conservation and collection care of plastic objects in museum collections. The course will provide an introduction to plastic materials, outline a range of practical plastic identification techniques, and provide practical advice as to the storage, cleaning and labelling of historic plastic objects.
Participants will:

<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Learn about plastic as a material and basic identification techniques.</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Have a better understanding of how plastics degrade and how this can be identified.</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Learn preventive conservation methods for dealing with problematic plastics. </LI>

Teas and coffees will be provided throughout the day. Delegates are asked to make their own lunch arrangements by either bringing a packed lunch, purchasing it from the on-site café or one of the many local shops.
