About this event

Join us to be creative, messy and experimental with paint. This monthly event is all about having fun and playing with paint. Let go of your inhibitions and splash colour on our walls. No creative ability is required, this is all about the process and enjoying the freedom of getting messy.

We held this event at the beginning of November 2024 and it was a huge success, some even described it as transformative. We had people of all ages enjoying the experience, from 1 year old babies through to grandparents. This event is a brilliant family experience but not exclusive to children so don't feel you need to bring a child to fit in!

How does it work?

We have a large wall opposite the largest canvas in the UK. The canvas is a project with Leeds Beckett Univercity and will be regularly updated by the students. The canvas and wall will act as inspiration for each other and a conversation between the students and community.

* Please note that adults need to book a ticket to accompany children. This is so we can make sure we can keep a track on numbers. Tickets are reasonably priced to allow for this.*

As well as the painting wall we have an area for painting on paper and canvas and jeans! Bring your own clothing to paint. Blank canvases will be on sale for a reasonable price.

We also have a colouring in table in the paint store.

Frequently asked questions

Will I get covered in paint?

That's up to you but we hope so! Bring children in old clothes and a change of clothes for them to go home in. Adults, feel free to do the same. We will have some overalls available to borrow and disposable ones to purchase.

Is it safe?

Yes, we will only be using household water based emulsion. Children must come with an adult and be supervised by their Carer at all times. We have wash facilities on hand.

Do I need to stay for the whole 3 hours?

No. This is not a structured event. You can arrive and leave as and when you like but you will want to spend 3 hours messing about with paint. Time flies when you're having fun!

Is there parking?

There is some parking available at Seagulls but also around the surrounding streets.

What if I have a ticket and can't attend?

We ask that if possible you let us know in plenty of time if you can't attend. The cost of the ticket is only about covering staff time so if you can't come please let us know so we can offer the space to someone else. if there is availability on a different day we can move your ticket.

Is food available?

From time to time we will be having a BBQ at the event. Keep an eye on our social media. We also have tea, coffee, squash available and this is just for a donation.

We have a large creative space with canvases to host painty events, a lovely big table in our paint store for colour consultations and a multi functional workshop space with three decorating pods that simulate real rooms.
