Poetry & Psyche

Tenx9 was founded in Belfast in 2011 by Paul Doran and Pádraig ÓTuama (more details here tenx9.com), as a night for ordinary people to tell true stories of their life - not fiction, not fable. Stories with a start, middle and end (although not in that order necessarily). Stories that have the listeners wondering ‘What happened next?’ ‘Why did she do that?’ ‘Who is that character?’ or ‘That character sounds just like my Auntie Myrtle.’Whilst Belfast is the city of Saints and Scholars, Nottingham is the City of Literature, we were born to do this :)

No, we are seeking the contradiction, wretchedness, the duality of light and dark in enchantment. The darkness, the underbelly, of thought and feeling, that's the Work, that's where we will gather.This is a facilitated conversation about our original pieces and the pieces we have read that have resonated with us deeply. We will explore darkness in creativity and transformation, the aspects that are often not articulated, tossed and written away. I invite you to see what happens when we don't seek to be found but remain in what is lost. What Charles Darwin called the "mystery of mysteries" and Emily Dickinson called the "Natural magic."
