Understanding Animal Researchis a UK not-for-profit membership organisation that wants everyone to understand and acknowledge the essential role that humane animal research plays in advancing basic and applied science, including the development of treatments for people and animals and a better understanding of the world we live in.Understanding Animal Research administers the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research in the UK, bringing  together over 100 partner organisations, to provide clear and honest information about the benefits and harms of animal research, so that people can feel better informed and come to their own positions on this issue.

Aim of the day
This workshop is for those interested in protecting against policy threats through political engagement. From spotting threats to reacting effectively to them, this day can show you the best ways to prepare, while sharing best practice among participants.

The importance of early engagement
Lobbying politicians (how to write to them, how to address them, how to get their attention)
Lobbying the civil service
Spotting and reacting to threats
Course notes and other supporting materials will be made available to participants online after the workshop.

Cost: £ 325 + VAT
Training is free for up to four people from UAR member organisations, per year.
