About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

There is a huge overlap between polyamorous people and people with ADHD. There is at present very little research on this, but the link makes sense - neurodivergent people are less likely to conform to societal standards, and people with ADHD are far more likely to engage in reward- or novelty-seeking behaviour.

But, ADHD can also be debilitating - after all, it is a disability! Polyamorous people with ADHD can struggle with scheduling and focus, have impulse control issues that make maintaining commitments challenging, and experience heightened emotions in times of conflict. So, how do you deal?

Leanne @polyphiliablog and Gabrielle @bygabriellesmith will give concrete advice, share personal stories, and more* in this 90-minute workshop, which includes an audience Q&A. We will cover a wide range of topics, including:

    • Struggling with the polysaturation that comes along with impulse control
    • Jumping into new relationships headfirst and ignoring red flags
    • Differentiating between our actual feelings and dopamine seeking behavior
    • Communicating/asking for accommodations and understanding from loved ones
    • and more.

*Both of us are diagnosed ADHDers with lived experience, but are not medical professionals! However, wherever possible we will include resources and research info.

For those who have the capacity, please consider using the 'Pay It Forward' add-on option to cover concession tickets for low-income, queer, BIPOC, and other marginalised folks. If you are in need of a concession ticket, please contact @polyphiliablog on Instagram to arrange this.

The presentation section of this workshop will be recorded, but the Q&A will not, for the privacy of the attendees.
