Overview

Discover spooky tales and eerie pasts on the Pontefract Ghost Walk—if you dare to join us live!

Pontefract Ghost Walk - Blood & Stone

Step into the shadows of Pontefract for a spine-tingling journey through one of Yorkshire’s most historic — and haunted — towns. Part of The Curator Series, this walk stands proudly beside our flagship Wakefield Ghost Walk while offering its own unique flavour of folklore and fear.

The title “Blood & Stone” reflects Pontefract’s brutal past — a town shaped by executions, uprisings, siege warfare, and centuries of conflict. The very stones beneath your feet have witnessed bloodshed, betrayal, and tragedy… and some say the echoes still linger.

Designed with families in mind, this walk is recommended for ages 12 and above, with parents best judging suitability. The shorter route (around 1 hour) and earlier start time make it more accessible for younger audiences than the Wakefield walk, while still delivering atmosphere, storytelling, and plenty of eerie moments only The Curator can provide.

While we don’t offer an in-depth castle tour — they already run excellent ones themselves — we do explore the castle’s darker history and the hauntings connected to its outer grounds. The walk may lead you up to the gates, where The Curator shares stories of executions, sieges, restless ghosts, and the shadows that still cling to its towering walls.

This walk also avoids 30 East Drive out of respect for their superb dedicated tours. Instead, Blood & Stone focuses on the lesser-known tragedies and whispered hauntings hidden in the quieter corners of Pontefract — stories that deserve to be heard and places that deserve to be felt.

Bring your curiosity… and perhaps a torch.

Because in Pontefract, the blood may be old, but the stone still remembers
