This free one day dance and coding workshop will, which is aimed at beginners but suitable for all levels of dance and coding ability, runs over a full day and will get you moving, coding and creating interactive environments that can be used for performance and everyday spaces.

The workshop will be led by experienced digital dance choreographer Rebecca Evans (Pell Ensemble) and physical coding educator Su Adams (U Can Too).

The morning will focus on using movement (accessible to all levels) to deliver an understanding of the principles of programming and how these can be used in a choreographic and digital context. In the afternoon the participants will use Crumble electronic controllers and Arduino microcontrollers (accessible to all levels) to build their own interactive lights. The final hour will bring the movement and light together for a digital dance testing session.

The workshop is run in conjunction with the PONToon Project, which aims to digitally upskill out-of-work women aged 18-35 in order to boost their employment prospects and support their economic inclusion.

Make sure to wear clothes that you're comfortable moving about in, and bring along some food to keep you energised throughout the day. The workshop will feature a lunchbreak of 45 minutes, and teas and coffee will be provided.
