Overview

An in person full day course designed to support Marina operators and harbour authorities understanding of the Port Marine Safety Code and what they need to do to comply with the PMSC and the Guide to good practice published in April 2025. The course will give marina operators and managers the knowledge they need to meet the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code and crucially the marine safety management system and structure.

You will learn about the Port marine Safety Code and the Guide to good Practice and how they apply to marinas including the 10 key requirements listed under the PMSC.

You will gain an understanding of marine safety management systems (MSMS), the required structure of the systems including the duties of the Duty holder and Designated person.

You will learn how the MSMS should cover the requirements of the applicable laws and regulations.

You will gain an understanding of how to implement, review and audit the MSMS.

· An overview of the PMSC and GTGP

· A summary of the 10 key requirements of the PMSC

· An in-depth exploration of Marine Safety Management Systems, including a clear explanation of the requirements and the distinctions between HSE-based Health & Safety law and Merchant Shipping Health & Safety law

· Practical exercises covering regulations, emergency procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance, and accident reporting

· Guidance on conducting reviews, including both internal and external audits
