About this event

  • 1 hour

Portrait Club is an opportunity to challenge yourself with a range of quick and fun drawing exercises - and to make some portraits of your very own loved ones! Perfect for those of you itching for something creative to do this half term.

Led by illustrator Peony Gent and artist James D Wilson, we welcome all drawing abilities and those of you who really want to express your creativity. All materials are provided and you are welcome to bring your own.

This is an interactive, guided session based on the working style of portrait artist Marie-Louise von Motesiczky (whose exhibition is hosted in our Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Gallery), who used her family members as subjects.

The session will comprise a mixture of playful directed exercises and 'free drawing', all of which encourage you to experiment with a range of sketching techniques and styles in a family-friendly setting.

We recommend one adult/guardian per child to get the most out of the session, but one adult/guardian for two children can also be accommodated.

Any additional children must be paid for (please select the 'add-on' option at the checkout).

Please note before booking your spot:

  • This workshop is for children aged 7 years old and above.
  • Adults/guardians must be present at all times.
  • The workshop is not suitable for younger children, and there will not be space to accommodate them due to the focused nature of the session.

Please note: Burgh House is a small arts charity, and we rely on ticket sales to generate income and keep the House open for free. Therefore tickets for events at Burgh House are non-refundable.

Kindly funded by the Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust.
