Portrait Drawing with Drypoint Etching
A unique way of combing printmaking with experimental drawing!
Portrait Drawing with Drypoint Etching
Saturday 11th April
10am til 4pm
Tutor : Nick
A drypoint etching is a print which has been made using an etching plate and a press. The plates are produced by scratching into the surface using a sharp point or etching tool. This scratch produces a raised surface or burr, which holds ink when rubbed into the surface. The excess ink is wiped away, leaving only ink in the raised surface, this plate is then printed onto damp paper using an etching press.
This workshop will teach techniques in portraiture drawing, working from images or mirrors, or both! Instead of drawing in the conventional way, we will be drawing using these etching tools, creating an etching which is also a portrait.
Complete beginners to etching and portraiture are welcome!
