Words Matter Events Programme

Words Matter is a FREE multi-disciplinary exhibition showcasing the works of twelve artists who participated in a six-month knowledge exchange programme, exploring UCL’s historic role in promoting the pseudoscience of eugenics.

Live art and sound performance of PostHuman by artist Rachel Gadsden and composer/musician Freddie Meyers. The performance will include BSL interpretation. Following the performance there will be an in-conversation Q&amp;A with the PostHuman creative team, Rachel Gadsden, Freddie Meyers, Jamie Hale, Director and Emma Crouch, Filmmaker. This event is FREE. Parental guidance is advised. <h3>Event Details</h3><blockquote>Date: Thursday 29th Janurary</blockquote><blockquote>Time: 5.30pm - 9pm</blockquote><blockquote>Location: Staff Common Room, Marshgate building, 7 Siding Street, London, E20 2AE.</blockquote> <h3>Rachel Gadsden</h3>Rachel Gadsden is a UK-based visual artist and performance artist who is exhibited internationally and who works across the mainstream and disability art sectors. Gadsden has led a range of national and international participative programmes exploring themes of fragility and resilience. <h3>CRIPtic Arts</h3>CRIPtic Arts exists to ignite disabled excellence across the arts. They provide active disabled leadership which advances world-class arts work with disabled creatives. From high-quality community activities to showcasing breakthrough performers they are blazing a revolution in accessibility. They are committed to supporting artists facing the highest barriers to opportunities, and/or whose access requirements are less likely to be met by other organisations.

<h3>Words Matter Exhibition</h3>Words Matter is a multi-disciplinary exhibition showcasing the works of twelve artists who participated in a <a href="https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prejudice-in-power/words-matter-public-art-programme" title="https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prejudice-in-power/words-matter-public-art-programme" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">six-month knowledge exchange programme</a>, exploring UCL’s historic role in promoting the pseudoscience of eugenics. The exhibition is free and open to all at UCL East campus, Marshgate building, E20 2AE.

<h3>Access to Venue</h3>ParkingThere is no parking at on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or across the UCL East campus. There are a limited number of Blue Badge holder parking spaces. Please specify whether you need one of these parking spaces in the order when confirming your ticket, and we will make arrangement for you Wheelchair AccessEntry into the Marshgate building is step-free access. There is also a publicly accessible lift to the First Floor Galleries, where the artworks are held. There are wheelchair access toilets on the ground and first floor.
