Pottery Class
Come and join me for a fun morning learning traditional hand-building techniques and creating your own beautiful mug, jug, bowl or vase.
My pottery class is designed for complete beginners, as well as those who have some experience working with clay but would like to improve their hand-building skills.
During the morning, you will learn the traditional hand-building technique - slab building. Using wet slabs, I will teach you how to create your very own mug, jug, vase or bowl. The final part of the workshop will focus on applying coloured decorating slips to your work and creating surface patterns and decoration through sgraffito and carving techniques. If we run out of time, there will be the oppotunity to take your work home to finish and then return t to me at a later date to fire. We can discuss options during the class.
No experience is necessary.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the morning. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or to wear old clothes.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your beautiful work home and fire it in my kiln. It will be glazed with a transparent glaze, and your finished piece will be ready to collect approximately six weeks after the workshop. I will contact you with the date and time for collection once everything has been fired.
There is free parking at The Walronds. The car park is located at the back of the building. To access it, turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It’s a narrow lane and easily missed! Drive a few yards up the lane and you’ll see the sign for the car park on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead.
Here’s a Google Maps link that will take you directly to the car park entrance:
