Pottery ID Workshop

Waveney Valley Community Archaeology Group

Our workshop will be led by Richenda Goffin, Finds and Post Excavation Manager for Cotswold Archaeology Suffolk, formerly Suffolk Archaeology CIC. 
We'll be looking at pottery throughout the ages, with an emphasis on medieval and late medieval pottery, learning what to look for and how to identfy it. We're focussing on late medieval pottery because most of what we've found on our fieldwalking site at Syleham is late medieval, which is not entirely surprising as a late medieval kiln has been found about 500m away.
Weather permitting we should be able to get back to our fieldwalking site within a few weeks of the workshop while our new-found knowledge is still fresh in our minds.
The ususal refreshments will be served.
