PPL and PRS Foundation present the next generation of UK talent at Soho Music Month 2021

The PPL Momentum Music Fund offers grants of £5k-£15k for UK based artists/bands to break through to the next level of their careers. Activities eligible for support include recording, touring and marketing. PPL Momentum Accelerator supports talented music creators with strong musical potential but are often unable to capitalise upon this due to financial barriers, gaps in regional infrastructure, knowledge, advice, and access to industry platforms.In this special edition Soho Music Month showcase, PPL and PRS Foundation present a unique line up of amazing PPL Momentum and Momentum Accelerator supported artists, all hailing from outside London!

PERFORMING LIVELady Ice Lady Ice is currently taking the world by storm, she’s cold but definitely turning the heat to max after coming off BBC One and BBC Three’s ‘The Rap Game UK’ with Krept, Konan and DJ Target. After her viral hit on the show she has been cementing her many talents within TV and music. Lady Ice Is known for her musical delivery, word play and versatility. Ice has been on the national airwaves, with support from Annie Mac, Toddla T, Dj target, Dotty and more via BBC radio 1 and 1xtra. Ice has also had the amazing support from Capital Xtra and Kiss FM. Ice then went on to receiving playlist track on BBC Radio 1xtra and DJ Targets Targo Embargo track. Last year Ice knocked down doors and linked up with footasylum on their ’New Year Same Waves’ campaign. This was with the catchy track ‘Headtop’. Ice has performed around the UK at some of the UK’s biggest festivals I.e MADE, NASS, Boomtown and more. Also on big stage shows such as BBC 1xtra Live at O2 Arena. Ice has been featured on some of the UK’s biggest media platforms via YouTube and been endorsed by Complex, Mix-mag, Trench and more. English Teacher English Teacher’s surreal lyricism forms the backbone of their strain of alternative, which sees post-punk, psychedelic and art-rock influences collide. Having spent 2018-2019 supporting artists such as Boogarins, No Vacation and Yellow Days at some of the UK’s stalwart independent venues, and having recently worked in Normandy with James Sanger (Manic Street Preachers, The Cure, Brian Eno) and Ken Scott (The Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd) the band’s releases have already seen praise from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and The Line of Best Fit. Downtown KayotoBorn in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, but proudly “Hull-bred”, Downtown Kayoto is unhindered by genre lines or geographical boundaries. Since releasing his first official track ‘Colours’ in 2019, he has found himself being championed by Nick grimshaw, Jessie Ware, Zane Lowe and more. Moving forward his priorities are growth and execution , finding a way to inject new sonics and visuals into the zeitgeist of the U.K. , blurring genres and keeping listeners on their toes.
