About this event

Overview

This practical training session introduces the nine essential parts of any project. It will help clarify what we mean when we say project and demonstrate how a practical approach can be beneficial. The session will help you understand the key principles of practical project management and methods employed for large and small projects.

Change means projects and projects mean change and the challenges faced by organisations have necessitated quick adjustment and new strategies. This will also create many more projects related to the ‘transformation’.

Key outcomes

  • Master the 4 phases and 9 key parts of the project planning framework
  • Learn why projects go wrong and how to get them back on track
  • The importance of goal clarification and an understanding of each of the key parts
  • How to build a balanced team through influencing and communicating with others
  • Practical application – the 25 key questions
  • Personal and organisational project management actions.

Who should attend

This seminar will be relevant for officers and managers new to or familiar with project management.

What others are saying about LGIU training

"I would definitely recommend this session on project planning to any of my colleagues. The trainers were super knowledgable and helpful - plus the handouts were great for coming back to the concepts down the road."

- Trudi, from Norfolk

Organised by

LGiU is a think tank and local authority membership organisation as well as a registered charity; and what we are about is pretty simple. We are all about people and the places where we live: we are about the everyday essentials that make life work – health, schools, homes, jobs, support, open spaces and the rest. And the thread that weaves through all our work is our core belief that all these essentials are best when they are designed and delivered locally.
