How can secondary school &amp; FE college staff support their learners, and what are universities &amp; other organisations offering to assist them?

Helping learners to have the skills and knowledge to make informed choices about their future has always been a priority for education professionals, but the current school and college closures has presented an unprecedented challenge. Year 11 and Year 13 pupils will have missed a large period of teaching, skills development and life experience - including the experience of fully engaging with independent study and the process of sitting external examinations.This free online conference, brought to you by <a href="http://thebrilliantclub.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Brilliant Club</a> and <a href="https://www.unifrog.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Unifrog</a>, is designed for secondary school &amp; FE college staff to be able to engage with external experts on how to support their learners in transitioning out of school or college and into Higher Education, as well as what can be done for your next cohort of learners entering this crucial phase of study.The event is comprised of 4 short sessions to hear from and engage with experts in this area: 1. A University Panel discussion chaired by <a href="https://thebrilliantclub.org/about-the-brilliant-club/the-team/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Anne-Marie Canning</a> MBE, who is the CEO of The Brilliant Club and formerly Director of Social Mobility and Student Success at King's College London, focused upon what universities are doing to support learners transitioning into HE in 20-21, and opportunities for your current school or college learners.Our Panellists are:•	Mike Nicholson, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach, the University of Bath•	Scott McKenzie, Head of Widening Participation and Outreach, Cardiff University•	Naomi Kellman, Senior Manager for Schools and University at Rare Recruitment and Founder of their Target Oxbridge programme•	Ffion Bailey, EU Manager, the University of St Andrews•	Karl Devincenzi, Recruitment and Schools Relationship Manager, the University of Exeter2. An update on The Scholars Programme from <a href="https://thebrilliantclub.org/about-the-brilliant-club/the-team/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Greg Scannell</a>, National Manager for Wales with The Brilliant Club, exploring how the programme can help your students become prepared for future university-level study, stretch and challenge able learners and assist in learners 'catching up' on important learning skills that they have missed during the crisis. 3. What effect has COVID-19 had on students' wellbeing and next steps? - Unifrog's latest report analyses 2,500 student survey responses and the Unifrog platform behaviour of over three quarters of a million students to investigate the immediate impact of the crisis. This session will be led by <a href="https://www.unifrog.org/contact" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mitch Purnell</a>, Unifrog Area Manager for Wales and the South West.4. Combining over 30 years of facilitation, teaching and leadership expertise with first-hand experience in supporting young people with their mental health, former headteacher, Mental Health Trainer and speaker <a href="https://starfishing.co.uk/about-us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pat Sowa</a> is on a mission to raise awareness and knowledge of mental wellbeing.
