<P CLASS="MsoNormal"><SPAN>As we have seen in recent years the threats to the public are changing, not only through terrorism, but incidents such as the use of corrosive substances to harm others. The NHS has a duty under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to be prepared for a wide range of incidents as part of the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) programme. One element of that programme is the readiness to respond to a Hazmat incident which is where people may have been exposed to substances hazardous to health. The presentation will highlight the capabilities of the Trust to mount a response to such an incident which is both safe for our staff whilst ensuring our patients are treated quickly in order to minimise harm and save lives.</SPAN></P>
