Description

Preparing for University!

It is SO important. Many times you hear people say 'I wish I knew that before...' or 'why did noone tell me this...'

We can put an end to that!

The day will cover:

  • Personal Statements - how to write them and what to include
  • Interview Skills - do's and don'ts, best results, body language
  • Money - How to budget and manage your money
  • Everything You Should Know About University (that is not mentioned in the prospectus!)

About our speakers:

Jane Marshall works at Imperial College, London. She will help you know how to write an excellent personal statement for your UCAS application form, cover CV writing and also touch on apprenticeship applications.

Barbara Bassot is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Career and Personal Development at the University of Canterbury. She will teach you how to prepare (and act) for interviews - skills which will be useful for any interview you have in the future.

Joan specialises in speaking about all things 'budgeting'. She will talk you through the best ways to manage your money whilst living independently, give practical tips on how to avoid overspending and warn you about the pitfalls of falling into debt!

Kitty and Josh are both students at university and will spend an hour sharing with you 'all-the-things-they-did-not-tell-you-about-starting-university' (eg: living with strangers and freezer space)

  • Josh is a second year student at the University of Hertfordshire who lives at home and commutes to and from campus.
  • Kitty is a first year (fresher!) at UWE Bristol and is living independently in halls away from home.
