<p>PRIDE week in Belfast is the time when the city puts on its best slap and celebrates the wonderful diversity of all its citizens.  The story of the gay community in Belfast is one of a fight to not only gain recognition but also simple legality as homosexuality in any form was once deemed a criminal act in Northern Ireland until 1982.  Our talk will be on the history of the PRIDE movement and its fight for freedom of sexual orientation before we go on a tour of the first and still existing Gay Quarter of Belfast.  You finish the tour with a promotional ‘flight’ of gender free beer at Bell’s Brewery at the Deer’s Head where you can drink a toast to the old Chariot Club that stood just across the street. </p>
