Print & Stitch: two techniques and one project!

32 Devonport RdStoke, England
Wednesday, Feb 11 from 10:30 am to 4 pm GMT
Overview

Print your own one-of-a-kind fabric and transform it into a cushion cover or tote bag using your sewing machine.

Would you love a day just for you ? To slow down, get creative, and head home with something you’ve made yourself? How many of us have started projects yet to be finished?!

This inspiring creative day begins with block printing using beautifully hand-carved wooden blocks from India. You’ll experiment with colour, pattern, and repetition to create your own truly one-of-a-kind fabric. Louise will guide you through a clear and detailed demonstration, with plenty of time to practise before you start printing your final design. You do not need any previous printing experience is needed, and you definitely don’t need to consider yourself artistic. There will be lots of samples and ideas on hand to get your creative juices flowing!

In the afternoon, the focus shifts from print to stitch. Jenni from Ginger & Make, who is an experienced teacher and dressmaker, will lead you through the process of transforming your printed fabric into either a tote bag or a cushion cover. You’ll work on your own sewing machine (which you’ll bring with you), and while you don’t need advanced sewing skills, you should feel comfortable with the basics of using your machine.

We’ve designed this workshop to feel calm, creative, and deeply satisfying and a day where you can unplug from busy life and immerse yourself in making. The Stitch & Splodge workshop space offers a beautiful, light-filled space with a relaxed atmosphere, giving you time, space, and inspiration to truly enjoy the process.

We are going to have a very small group for this workshop, allowing plenty of one on one tutor time and space to be creative.
