Discover the art of pattern-making in this hands-on printing workshop designed for curious minds aged 9+ & perfect for teens and adults.
Printing Patterns Workshop
Wednesday 18th February, 11am – 3pm
Ages 9+ (Adults Welcome)
Discover the art of pattern-making in this hands-on printing workshop designed for curious minds aged 9 and up—perfect for teens and adults who also love to experiment, design, and make. Printing Patterns explores how simple shapes and marks can be transformed into striking repeating designs across paper, fabric, and ceramics.
Participants will learn how to design and build repeat patterns, exploring concepts such as symmetry, rotation, and tessellation. Using a variety of printmaking techniques and tools, you’ll experiment with colour, scale, and layering to create your own unique printed surfaces.
The workshop will introduce designing and printing custom wrapping paper—perfect for gifts with a truly personal touch, printing onto textiles and pottery, showing how patterns behave differently across materials and surfaces. Participants will gain insight into how artists and designers adapt their processes for different outcomes.
This workshop encourages thoughtful design, playful experimentation, and creative confidence in a relaxed, supportive studio environment where beginners and experienced makers alike can explore together. Each participant will take home a collection of hand-printed papers, textiles, and ceramic pieces—along with practical skills and inspiration to continue exploring pattern and print in their own creative practice.
