Carousel Printmaking Studio is an accessible community space providing opportunities for artists and the wider community to access quality printmaking equipment facilities and education. Though volunteer led we also offer work opportunities to local artists and educators through our programme of regular practical workshops.

Printmaking Workshops 2025/26

New courses for 2024 including screen printing with natural dyes, collagraph, gelli plate printing, linocut, woodcut and monotype  portraits and more.

<h1>A﻿bout this course</h1>O﻿n this one day course you will experiment with both adding and subtracting ink from the plate. Using textures, objects, stencils and mark making methods, you will build a small library of test prints as a compendium of ideas and approaches, before finalising your favourite methods into a monoprint artwork. This workshop will show you the enormous potential and unique character of printmaking with gelli plates.

<h1>A bout the Tutor</h1>Joanna Rucklidge is a Sheffield-based artist, designer and educator. Within her practice, she tackles issues around the value of disposable resources, whilst aiming to promote waste minimisation and re-use. She makes work by collecting, processing, disruptingand articulating visual responses to ‘rubbish’. She often uses waste materials for printmaking to minimise resource consumption, reduce costs, and enjoy the unique marks made by pre-used surfaces and objects. <h1>What will I need to bring?</h1>All materials and equipment will be provided. You may want to bring any interesting objects or textures from home to press into the gelli plate (objects will get inky!). Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided.You may want to bring a packed lunch and your own water bottle. Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided.

<h1>About Carousel Print Studio</h1>Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based on the ground floor of Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate. Carousel runs educational workshops in printmaking and opportunities for creatives in Sheffield, in a bright, warm, accessible and well equipped printmaking studio.Carousel's studio is located on the ground floor just to the left of reception. The doors are widened for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet.
