<h3>We are pleased to invite you to the private view/drinks reception evening for the Conversations in Practice exhibition.</h3><h3>Thursday 15th June 6-8pm at Yorkshire Artspace - Persistence Works Gallery, 21 Brown Street S1 2BS.</h3><h3>The exhibition is open to the public Wednesday 14th June to Monday 19th from 10am to 5pm each day.</h3><p>The exhibition Conversations in Practice explores connections between diverse arts-based research projects and shared thematic and conceptual concerns with time, materiality and the body.</p><p>The show aims to open up dialogue between very different types of practice that include textiles, filmmaking, photography, bioart, augmented reality, print and projection.  These material explorations speak together in unintended and serendipitous ways to reveal insight into the nature of touch, communication, memory, brokenness, and domestic space.</p><p>The universal requirement of a PhD thesis is to ‘contribute to knowledge’ in an academic field.  In practice, doctoral research has a life much wider than this, often weaving through publics, communities and localities, and multiple academic fields. This is particularly the case for the creative practice PhD with its combined worlds of artistic practice, art education, and diverse modes of writing. The show aims to celebrate this and encourages us to think further about our range and qualities of differing types of research transmission.</p><h3>Artist researchers presenting work:</h3><h3>Roland van Dierendonck / Marika Grasso / Jackie Leaver  / Tim Machin  / Aron Spall  / Cathy Soreny  / Marney Walker  / Wendy Ward</h3><p></p>
