First Thursday Programme 3 Lanch Event

Bow Arts is an arts education charity that provides affordable creative workspaces for over 500 emerging artists. Alongside this, Bow Arts manages one of the country's most exciting education programmes, which takes world-class artists into 90 schools to improve the lives and learning of children and young people. Bow Arts runs the Nunnery Gallery, a public gallery that supports a diverse range of high-quality exhibitions and events as well as the delivery of a public arts programme. Established in 1995, Bow Arts holds an important place in east London which is fast becoming known as London’s Artist Quarter.

The final Visions programme will launch on the last First Thursday of 2016 with five live performances, including an exclusively new and live performance from Richard Layzell, as well as Elena Cologni, Marina Moreno and Tony White and Raluca Croitoru and Mikio Saito from the Unnoticed Art Festival, with a new installation Hey You! by Tessa Garland, a film about control and the power of information. Whose watching who now? STRUCTURES of SUPPORT by Elena Cologni features an interactive, wearable structure in response to the motto 'justice is the foundation of the rules of all kingdoms' by Francis I, Emperor of Austria and written on the Äußeres Burgtor building in Vienna. Performed as a parade, the structures will address our engagement with space, memory and place. Programme 3 will explore digital worlds, utopias and dystopias, with artists including Adriana Amodei, Sandra Araújo, Ulu Braun, Carla Chan, Milo Creese, Sandra Crisp, Raluca Croitoru, Dennis & Debbie Club, Nina Danino, DMK (Davies, Monaghan, Klein), Valentina Ferrandes, Tessa Garland, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Lawrence Lek, Allie Litherland, Jonathon Monaghan, Chris Paul Daniels, Mikio Saito, Mauricio Sanhueza, PolakVanBekkum, Schellekens, and Zeljko Vidovic.
Curated by Cinzia Cremona and Tessa Garland, Visions 2016 showcases over 100 international artists’ work through an innovative six-part programme, including artists Marina Abramović, Ori Gersht, Susan Hiller, Mikhail Karikis, Richard Layzell and Uriel Orlow. 12 events punctuate the programme, featuring live performances in the gallery, Carmelite Café and Bow Arts’ unique Victorian enclosed courtyard. <A HREF="http://bowarts.org/sites/default/files/Visions_Programme.pdf" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">View the full programme here</A>
