The Manufacturing Skills Academy, NMIS

Delivered in partnership with CodeClan, this is a four day free training course on programming fundamentals with Python.

Python is a pioneering software in the field of programming languages for machine learning technologies that can be used across various careers from web development to data science and manufacturing.Delivered in partnership with CodeClan, this four day free training course will help improve your basic understanding of how programming works and allow you to get hands on and create programs to automate tasks.Please note: This course is funded by Scottish Government through its flagship programme, National Transition Training Funding (NTTF) and is designed to support people over 25 who currently live in Scotland and who have lost their jobs or who are at risk of redundancy as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19). Please only sign up to attend this event if you meet this criteria.

Each session will be 9am - 4pm.Day 1: 25th October<ul><li>Command line basics </li><li>What is programming? </li><li>Effective text editing </li><li>Conditionals </li><li>Lab </li></ul>Day 2: 26th October<ul><li>Dictionaries </li><li>Lists </li><li>Loops </li><li>Named tuples </li><li>Tuples </li><li>Functions </li></ul>Day 3: 27th October<ul><li>File handling with CSV files </li><li>File handling lab </li><li>Testing fundamentals </li><li>Basic automation </li></ul>Day 4: 28th October<ul><li>Advanced automation </li><li>Modules and packages </li><li>Free form problem solving</li></ul>

<h2>About National Transition Training Fund (NTTF) </h2>The Scottish Government's National Transition Training Fund (NTTF) aims to tackle the rise in unemployment caused by the impact of Covid-19.

<h2>Please note</h2><ul><li>The courses will be allocated on a first come, first served basis</li><li>Failure to cancel and or attend, may result in you being removed from any future courses.</li><li>This course will take place virtually via Zoom. To access the event you must have access to a computer with video facilities for a teleconference.</li><li>There will be some software to install prior to class, full details to be sent once you have booked a place. </li><li>Please note this course has limited spaces available. Should you be unable to attend, please cancel your booking via Eventbrite to allow us to re-allocate your place.</li></ul>
