About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

When Alec and Kay Walker founded Cryséde Silks in 1918, publicity was a vital part of its success. Social Historian Janet Axten has had access to decades of local and national advertisements, providing a fascinating and unusual view of the rise, fall and rise again of the business. She also celebrates the dedicated work of Hazel Berriman who, in the 1990s, ensured that Cryséde would be remembered. Now, a century after its creation, Janet reports on how the company is being re-evaluated and celebrated for a new generation.
