The training is open to all who are eligible to apply for grant funding at all career stages so please feel free to share this with relevant colleagues within your organisations. This is a general proposal writing workshop with advise/tips applicable to a range of funders.It will take place on 27th of November from 9.30- 14.30 2025 at Godfrey Thomson Hall, Thomson's Land, University of Edinburgh. Light lunch will be provided so please confirm attendance by registering. There will also be an opportunity for an informal discussion with the consultant for further grant advice and there will be support from our research development team on funding opportunities.The Aim of the event is to support colleagues within the ACE partnership to fund their shared research goals by providing a framework, and tools, to help you to increase the quality of your submitted applications to UKR and other funders. It is an ideal opportunity to think about your next grant application or to get your collaborators together to formulate your next bid.The training will be delivered by an external consultancy Dr James Dickie, Innovation Manager at <a href="https://modus-europe.ltd" title="https://modus-europe.ltd" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Modus Research and Innovation Europe</a>.Workshop lead: Dr James Dickie a specialist research proposal writer. An avid science communicator with a passion for training, James created this workshop to share his unique insights, proven strategies, and practical advice for organising and writing successful research proposals, which currently has a 100% recommendation rate among training attendees from institutions across Europe.About the day:The session will include:· General advice on grant writing and how its different form other forms of writing· Steps to begin writing a proposal· Tips on how to make your proposal stand out· General writing tips and advise By the end of the training session attendees will have a better understanding of the structured and methodical, and steps required for optimal grant applications. This will create a very clear pathway, each with a set of thinking tools to hone the initial idea into a stronger application. The agenda will be circulated later to all registered participants. We hope the day will also give you some dedicated time to think about your next application as well as the opportunity to speak with ACE members about their interests, leading to exciting new research ideas and the submission of further competitive applications.
