<H2 CLASS="MsoNormal">This workshop provides an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP), the different types of IP available (patents, copyright, trademarks, design rights), it explains the processes involved in securing them and the benefits that can derive from IP. The session also covers the importance of having an IP strategy and some of the pitfalls that companies can experience. </H2>

The workshop is designed for directors and managers from established SME’s* as well as entrepreneurs seeking start and grow a spinout or start-up company, to find out more about protecting innovations through IP and other licensing opportunities.
*SME – small, medium size enterprises registered in Cumbria only.

Alister Minty has more than 20 years’ experience in Business Development and International Sales, including 3 years in USA and 6 years in Japan where he sold $M internet video technology licenses to camera OEMs. His licensee customers include Matsushita, Toshiba, Canon, JVC, Ikegami, Honeywell and Cirrus Logic. He is currently Chairman of a biotech instrumentation start-up.
