Learn the skills needed to look after your fruit trees by pruning in the summer.
Learn the why, when and how of pruning and caring for fruit trees in this hands on pruning workshop.
The workshop will be packed with practical tips for how to care for and prune your fruit trees to maximise their yield and health. You will learn why, when, and how to make your cuts and what tools to use and then get some practice in with guidance from our experienced fruit growers.
On our beautiful community site at Forest Farm Peace Garden we grow 90+ different varieties of fruit trees including apples, pears, quinces, medlars, mulberries, cherries and plums. There will be the chance to tour our fruit collection, and plenty of time for questions.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with more experience.
11am-1pm All the pruning basics plus a chance to prune a tree.
1pm-1.30pm Break.
1.30pm-3pm More time for hands-on practice, a garden tour of fruit trees, and plenty of time for questions.
If you have a pruning saw and secateurs, please bring this with you and wear sturdy footwear.
Hot and cold drinks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch/snack.
Tickets are £20, with a concession rate available, as well as a solidarity price for those who can pay a bit more. If the price is a barrier for you attending please get in touch with mirjam@forestfarmpeacegarden.org and we can sort something out. We don't want anyone to miss out because of finances!
In order to make our events as accessible as possible, you can decide what to pay according to your means. Please pay what you think you can reasonably afford. All proceeds will go towards supporting our free ecotherapy program for people with mental health recovery needs
